FDA Clears Aero DR 10 x 12 plate, Konica Minolta Begins Shipments

Wayne, NJ, October 1, 2013 – Konica Minolta Healthcare Americas announces that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has cleared the Aero DR 10 x 12 wireless plate for sale. This new plate is an ideal solution for sites seeking a smaller and lighter wireless flat panel for use in general X-ray and in specialty applications where smaller is just the right size, such as orthopedics and pediatrics. This includes the NICU where the Aero DR 10 x 12 detector fits most basinets and can be used with all major portable X-ray systems from various manufacturers.

This easy-to-use, versatile and dose-efficient detector is already being adopted in several imaging markets, including hospitals, orthopedic practices and NICU departments. Shipments have commenced to these facilities and clinicians are utilizing the 10 x 12 detector in orthopedic and pediatric applications.

The Aero DR 10 x 12 is an excellent complement to large field detectors and is easily integrated into existing Konica Minolta Healthcare Americas systems. In addition to most standard digital imaging requirements, it can also be used for cross table, extremity, spine and sunrise patella views with a high tolerance to patient weight loading. The Aero DR 10 x 12 delivers a gentler imaging experience by providing greater dose efficiency compared to standard CR and GOS based imaging systems.

Similar to the Aero DR 14 x 17 and 17 x 17 plates, the Aero DR 10 x 12 improves workflow efficiencies with speed—images appearing on the console display in less than two seconds—and high image quality. The new panel boasts the same power saving technology, durable body, and Lithium Ion Capacitor that assures a facility’s long term investment in the Aero DR wireless technology.

Hospitals and imaging centers can reduce operational and associated costs for digital imaging with the smaller detector compared to full-size detectors. Further enhancing total cost of ownership is the ability to share the Aero DR 10 x 12 plate between departments—Konica Minolta’s roaming feature allows for shared resources between multiple rooms.
