Campbell Clinic Selects Konica Minolta for DR and X-ray Room Equipment

Wayne, NJ, March 21, 2013 – Konica Minolta Healthcare Americas announced today that Campbell Clinic Orthopaedics, a world-renowned leader in sports medicine, orthopedic surgery, and rehabilitation based in Memphis, TN, has selected the Aero DR for all of its four clinics. Campbell Clinic purchased five 14 x 17 Aero DR wireless panels to replace aging CR units across its four clinics. Additionally, the clinic is upgrading X-ray equipment—such as the generator, bucky table and wall stands—and implementing an Aero DR Auto-Stitching System for scoliosis studies in its Germantown facility. Mid-South Medical Imaging, a Konica Minolta Elite Partner, was integral in securing the contract.

According to Peter Kim, Manager of Information Technology, Campbell Clinic, the new Aero DR units are already making an impact on patient care and technologists’ efficiency. “We reduced the X-ray dose to patients (by a solid 50%) and increased patient throughput and performance with the Aero DR acquisition speed. Additionally, our technologists report they are experiencing less pain in their wrists and wear and tear on their bodies with Konica Minolta’s lightweight Aero DR panel.”

A key feature of the Aero DR that impressed Kim during his initial product evaluation is the lithium ion capacitor, which is completely sealed within the durable carbon fiber panel housing of the Aero DR. The Aero DR panel charges quickly—only 30 minutes from empty to full—and holds a long charge with a slow discharge cycle so it does not need to be replaced during the life cycle of the detector. With a completely sealed detector structure, it is durable and rigid to withstand mechanical shocks from falls or striking of the cassette.

“Campbell Clinic is a leading academic and clinical site that has trained hundreds of surgeons for over 100 years, and Konica Minolta is honored to become the organization’s DR provider of choice,” says Joe Giordano, Senior Director of Marketing and Product Management for Konica Minolta. “We look forward to working with Campbell Clinic and its staff as they move into the next generation of digital X-ray.”
